I am really lukewarm toward Sakira. Her stories are cute and fun for a quick read, but they don’t really do anything for me. While her art is very nice the characters she draws are not ‘my type’ at all—very big and bulky and macho-looking. Plus her sense of humor isn’t my style, unfortunately. So I do read her works when they’re offered up on a platter, but I don’t seek her out.

Basso! I really like her art a lot, and there have been many stories by her I’ve read and enjoyed immensely. But I feel oddly guilty admitting that I’m actually not a huge fan. I do own all of her books and have read them various times, but the way a lot of people treat her as super-groundbreaking perfect and flawless makes me feel like I should be enjoying and appreciating her stories more than I actually do. But her stories often have themes I’m not so into, like politics (I deal with them enough in my daily life sob I don’t want them in my comics orz) and promiscuity and old dudes. And often those themes are all mixed, so old politicians having a lot of promiscuous sex…. eek.
that being said, I do really like her. idk I just feel like I don’t like her enough as she’s not even in my list of favorite authors. When her stories don’t revolve around the things I mentioned above, though, I generally really really really love them so she’s definitely still an artist I keep an eye on constantly.
CONFLICTING EMOTIONS.
